Job summary

LGC is seeking a Lab Services Technician in Middleton, WI to join a top-tier team supporting sequencing and genomic workflows. You will process and prepare client samples for sequencing, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to SOPs while providing critical operational support to the Lab Services group.

Ideal candidates will have an associate degree or higher, hands-on experience with nucleic acid methods, and a track record of reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a scientific field.
  • Experience handling a pipettor and basic lab equipment.
  • Experience in extraction and quantification of nucleic acids, PCR, or other molecular methods.
  • Reliable work attendance and performance track record.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and store client samples strictly according to SOPs and work instructions
  • Prepare client tissue samples for extraction, effectively extract and quantify DNA following applicable SOPs
  • Independently build next-generation sequencing (NGS) libraries from client DNA using designated mentorship and methodology
  • Safely, accurately, and efficiently use automated laboratory equipment to make measurements and build reactions
  • Prepare buffers and solutions for use by all lab personnel
  • Remove and dispose of liquid and solid waste following established protocols
  • Accurately update relevant IT systems to ensure flawless tracking of work and client samples
  • Collaborate optimally with colleagues within and outside the Lab Services team
  • Assess sample quality and identify variances out of specification, determining course of action with direct management
  • Contribute to an effective, safe, and clean lab environment through various support activities
  • Clean and maintain labware as needed

Job Description

The Lab Services Technician at LGC provides an outstanding opportunity to join a top-tier team committed to advancing scientific research. You will have a key role in processing and preparing client samples for sequencing and providing flawless operational support for the Lab Services team at our innovative facility. This role is ideal for individuals with ambition and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking research in genomics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a scientific field of study (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics) is required.
  • Proven ability to handle a pipettor and basic lab equipment accurately in a lab setting.
  • Reliable work attendance and performance track record.
  • Experience in the extraction and quantification of nucleic acids, PCR, or other molecular biological methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
