Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Lead Clinical Laboratory Professional to join the UAB St. Vincent’s East team in Birmingham, AL, on 2nd shift. You will supervise hematology/coagulation operations, review daily reports, train staff, and ensure accurate test results.

The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to SOPs, and quality control in a fast-paced core lab environment, with opportunities to influence patient care and lab performance through hands-on oversight and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology; 2+ years as a Technician.
• ASCP and/or AMT Certifications preferred; 1+ year supervising or leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with day-to-day operations of the Hematology/Coagulation area of the Core Lab.
• Send daily, weekly and monthly production reports to management.
• Assist with training of new hires and development of current employees.
• Maintain safety and ensure proper PPE usage.
• Prepare, test and evaluate reagents or controls and report accurate results.

LabCorp is seeking a Lead Clinical Laboratory Professional to join our team UAB St. Vincent’s East, Birmingham, AL.

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Hematology /Coagulation area of the Core Lab
• Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology 2 years or more of experience as a Technician

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree ASCP and/or AMT Certifications 1 years or more of experience supervising or leading a team

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement.
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures.
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
