Responsibilities

The LSST performs specimen collection, processing, waived point-of-care testing, and other laboratory services. Responsibilities include handling blood and body fluid specimens, verifying identification, shipping, and storage. They interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff, troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to protocols. Use of information systems and participation in quality control are essential. The role may include training new staff and students. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, capable of troubleshooting, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina for lifting and standing, good communication skills, color discrimination, and caution regarding hazards are required. Flexibility in work hours is necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; a two-year degree is preferred.
• Experience in patient care, venous access, specimen processing, or certification in phlebotomy is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; F-1 STEM OPT extension is not supported.
• Updated resume required for consideration.

Additional Details

• Exemption Status: Nonexempt
• Compensation: $20.00 - $23.46/hour, based on experience and tenure
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, rotating weekends and holidays
• Location: Multiple Mayo Clinic campuses, including Rochester, Phoenix/Scottsdale, Jacksonville, and others
