The LSST performs specimen collection, processing, waived point-of-care testing, and other laboratory services. Responsibilities include handling blood and body fluid specimens, verifying identification, shipping, and storage. They interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff, troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to protocols. Use of information systems and participation in quality control are essential. The role may include training new staff and students. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, capable of troubleshooting, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina for lifting and standing, good communication skills, color discrimination, and caution regarding hazards are required. Flexibility in work hours is necessary.
