Job summary

ALS in Reno, NV is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) to work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs. You will perform ringing, sieving, crushing and splitting under direct supervision, while maintaining production logs and upholding basic lab cleanliness and safety.

You will need good hand-eye coordination, solid organizational skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; sometimes continuously (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment).
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
• Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ringing , sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs;General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness;
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.;
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required;
• observing safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned.
