Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Lab/Research Technician (Hourly) in the School of Medicine. You will manage mouse colonies, perform drug administrations, and conduct behavioral assays to compare mouse models. Strong independence and meticulous data documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; undergraduate degree in pharmacology, biochemistry, neuroscience, molecular biology, or related field.
• Must have good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to conduct thoughtful, independent experiments.

Responsibilities

• Manage mouse colonies and handle mice, including injections and drug administration.
• Conduct behavioral assays (place conditioning, Y-maze, tail-withdrawal, hot-plate, locomotor testing) using animal models.
• Document results thoroughly, coordinate experiment requests, and report data for PI review.
• Maintain lab stock, order supplies, and ensure cleanliness and compliance with guidelines.
• Weekend work may be required.
