Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant to provide technical assistance in science-related tasks under minimal supervision.

You will maintain the laboratory and equipment, ensure safety compliance, and assist with data collection and analysis including PCR, DNA cloning, flow cytometry, and microscopy. Inventory and reagent orders are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a Bachelor's Degree with major coursework or two years of college with emphasis in the field, or a high school diploma/GED.
• Experience: No experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 2 years of lab experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two years of college, or 4 years of lab experience including two years at the Laboratory Technical Assistant level with GED.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine scientific and medical research work in biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
• Assembles and/or operates laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
• Assists in collection of data for project reports.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
• May plan for, and provide working supervision to, laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in a limited phase of research.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
