Job summary

Brown University’s School of Engineering is hiring a part-time Research Engineer to design, fabricate, purchase, and maintain laboratory equipment for experimental fluid mechanics projects. The role supports posters, publications, and progress reports, and may assist with grant proposals.

You will keep the lab organized, aid users with devices (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC), and liaise with Design Workshop, IT, Facilities and EHS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 1-2 years experience with engineering design and design project experience.
• Experience in a university laboratory setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, purchase, and maintain lab equipment.
• Support posters, publications, and progress reports.
• Assist with proposals for research grants and sponsored funding.
• Maintain and organize lab facilities and fabrication equipment.
• Serve as lab liaison to Design Workshop, IT, Facilities, and EHS.
