Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or UTMB student enrolled at least half time.
• Bachelor’s degree in basic science or equivalent.
• Experience with standard laboratory assignments and experiments.
• Ability to maintain accurate records of tests and data.
• Wamiliarity with drafting manuscripts and grant preparation.
• Willingness to train staff or students in basic laboratory techniques and safety.

Responsibilities

• Performs varying standardized laboratory assignments and experiments.
• Under direct supervision, carries out standard research tasks and related operations.
• Sets up and conducts standard research experiments following detailed technical instructions.
• Prepares biological assays and conducts basic quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected.
• Assists in data compilation, tabulation, and preliminary analysis.
• Assembles, calibrates, operates and makes minor modifications to laboratory equipment.
• Contributes to drafting and editing manuscripts, preparing figures, and grant applications.
• Assists in training staff or students in basic laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
• Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
