Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa is seeking a Research Associate I to perform basic biological, behavioral, or public health research under supervision. You will support data analysis, protocol development, and presentation of findings within the Mullinax laboratory and broader research teams.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a science field, strong communication, and the ability to work independently while maintaining safety and accuracy in laboratory procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science related field required.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on research experience, maintain laboratory equipment in a clean working order, including performing instrument standardization documented by written report.
• Reorder and restock laboratory supplies as needed.
• Responsible for the preparation of tissues and samples for study under appropriate supervision.
• Keep current with lab trends and techniques.
• Follow infection control techniques, for preparation, handling and disposal of samples.
• Research Associates collect, annotate, and permanently record raw experiment data and document findings in a timely manner accessible to others on the research team.
• Research Associates work in a manner compliant with applicable regulations including the protection of patient records; apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; maintain supply inventory; prepare reagents according to laboratory standards.
