The George Laboratory at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, is recruiting a highly motivated Research Associate II to join our translational research team. Our laboratory focuses on developing new therapeutic strategies for ovarian and endometrial cancer, with an emphasis on patient-derived experimental models, targeted therapeutics, treatment resistance, and precision oncology. A major focus of the laboratory is the development and application of patient-derived three-dimensional microtumor models that preserve key features of the tumor microenvironment and can be used for therapeutic testing and translational research. The Research Associate will work closely with members of the George Laboratory and will be integrated with the BioEngineering team at Speros, providing an opportunity to work at the interface of cancer biology, engineering, and translational therapeutics.

Position Highlights
  • Work with fresh patient-derived ovarian and gynecologic tumor specimens and three-dimensional microtumor cultures.
  • Perform drug-treatment experiments using patient-derived models and established cancer cell lines.
  • Assist with molecular, cellular, and imaging-based assays to evaluate tumor biology and treatment response.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team that includes cancer biologists, bioengineers, physicians, and other research staff.
  • Gain experience in translational cancer research focused on developing and testing new therapeutic strategies.
Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with primary cells, patient-derived tissues, spheroids, organoids, or other three-dimensional culture systems is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as protein extraction, western blotting, immunofluorescence, microscopy, viability assays, and/or flow cytometry.
  • Is comfortable learning new laboratory techniques and following established experimental protocols.
  • Has strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Maintains accurate and complete experimental records.
  • Is dependable and able to manage time and multiple laboratory tasks efficiently.
