Job summary

The University of Wisconsin is seeking a SA Researcher II at UW-Superior to support the Lake Superior Research Institute. This student hourly position is based in Barstow Hall and helps with routine laboratory tasks and data management.

Responsibilities include glassware preparation, culture handling, sampling, equipment calibration, data entry, and quality assurance. Applicants must be half-time students with at least a 2.0 GPA and be willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays;

Qualifications

• Enrolled at a minimum of half-time status at UW-Superior.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
• Willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Eligible for summer employment if pre-registered or half-time in Summer College.

Responsibilities

• Glassware preparation for testing.
• Preparation of food and water for organism cultures.
• Renewal of organism cultures.
• Laboratory equipment calibration, use, and maintenance.
• Preparation of laboratory reagents and standards.
• Sampling equipment preparation and maintenance.
• Sample collection and analysis.
• Data entry and proofing.
• Assistance in data analysis and quality assurance.
• Conduction of toxicity tests.
• Access to laboratory on weekends for culture care.
• General lab maintenance.
• Record keeping.
• Other duties as assigned by individual researchers.
