Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Cohen Lab in Chemical Physiology and Biochemistry. The role includes mammalian cell culture, rodent handling, protein expression, cloning, and buffer prep, with an independent project on ADP-ribosylation and ubiquitylation.

The position involves lab management tasks, reagent procurement, and coordinating equipment use. Schedule is Monday-Friday with occasional evenings or weekends; located on the Portland campus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in a relevant field or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree with 3 years of relevant experience or 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and speech.
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a positive, productive manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong self-motivation, integrity, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Mammalian cell culture maintenance and rodent handling.
  • Bacterial protein expression and buffer preparation.
  • Molecular cloning and project execution on ADP-ribosylation/ubiquitylation.
  • Provide lab management support: ordering and organizing reagents and maintaining stocks.
  • Support collaborative Cohen/Pruneda lab research efforts.
  • Coordinate use of lab equipment and space with staff.
