Job summary

NCS Multistage is seeking a Lab Receiving Technician in Tulsa, OK to manage sample receipt and data entry in LIMS. You will coordinate with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure timely sample shipments and accurate batch creation, while maintaining the laboratory warehouse and supporting sample prep.

The role requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, a strong work ethic, and high attention to safety. Training will cover HS&E policies and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma in US; Canada diploma or college lab tech experience also acceptable.
  • Experience working in laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to handle odors typical of petroleum and lab chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Receive samples (oil, gas, water) for analysis.
  • Log samples into LIMS and create batches for analysis.
  • Prepare samples for instrumental analysis following established methods.
  • Track samples against plan and resolve discrepancies with stakeholders.
  • Organize samples in the laboratory warehouse and manage storage/clear-out.
  • Assist with laboratory supply organization and ordering.
  • Follow safety processes and HS&E policies for NCS and customers.
  • Align personal goals with NCS corporate goals and participate in PDS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title - Lab Receiving Technician

Reports to - Laboratory Supervisor or Director

Job Summary

The Laboratory Receiving Technician is primarily responsible for coordinating and overseeing sample receipt and entry into LIMS. They coordinate with various external stakeholders in Operations, Account Manager and Engineering Technical Advisors to anticipate sample shipments and organize samples into wells and projects. They will maintain the laboratory sample warehouse and assist with same preparation in coordination with the Laboratory Technician staff.

Key areas of responsibility
  • Receive samples (oil, gas, water) for analysis
  • Log samples into LIMS and create batches of samples for analysis
  • Prepare selected samples for instrumental analysis by following established methods and procedures
  • Track samples received against plan; communicate with stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies
  • Organize samples in laboratory warehouse
    • Store samples after analysis
    • Clear-out inventory of samples after storage date has passed
  • Assist with laboratory supply organization/ordering
  • Follows and ensures strict safety processes and safety checks
  • Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer
  • Align individual goals with NCS's corporate goals, while adhering to the NCS Promise
  • Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS)
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Education/experience
    • Canada: Chemical Laboratory Technology Diploma and/or min 2 years of lab experience
    • US: High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred; experience in laboratory setting preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • High level of efficiency and work ethic, strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Shows initiative, enthusiasm and attention to detail in all assignments
  • Ability to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum, petrochemicals and laboratory chemicals without allergic reaction or nausea
  • Ability to stand, bend and sit for extended time periods
  • Ability to work in climate and non-climate-controlled area (95% climate, 5% non-climate)
  • Ability to move or lift 25 lbs
