Qualifications

• Associate's degree or high school diploma with 2 years' clinical lab or relevant experience.
• Ability to read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
• Organized, able to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to accommodate scheduling adjustments including off-shifts, holidays and weekends.
• Must adhere to safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents.
• Foreign-trained lab personnel must provide a detailed education equivalency evaluation at applicant's expense.
• Internal applicants may require early release approvals from supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytic specimen processing and operate lab and office equipment.
• Enter information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
• Respond to a high volume of calls seeking laboratory testing information.
• Ensure correct patient identification on specimens and resolve pre-analytic issues.
• Provide training and support within the lab team; may perform reagent preparation and inventory management.
