Job summary

Mayo Clinic Laboratories is hiring to support global diagnostics efforts with a focus on pre-analytic specimen processing and accuracy in specimen handling. You will work with the management team to ensure smooth workflow, confidentiality, and high-quality processing of orders and tests.

Roles include operating lab and office equipment, updating the LIS, and contributing to patient care through precise processing and inventory management in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate's degree or a High School diploma with 2 years of relevant clinical lab experience.
• Experience with computers and office equipment including keyboarding.
• Ability to read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
• Organized, able to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and human-relations skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Able to accommodate scheduling, off-shifts, holidays and weekend work.
• Attention to safety when handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents.

Responsibilities

• Assist and cooperate with management to run the work unit and facilitate workflow.
• Perform pre-analytic specimen processing and operate lab and office equipment.
• Enter data and test orders into the laboratory information system; respond to calls for testing information.
• Ensure correct patient identification on specimens and resolve related issues.
• Support the laboratory team and may perform reagent preparation and inventory management.
