Paycom - ATS in Waco, TX is seeking an experienced laboratory support professional to perform phlebotomy and sample processing in a health care setting. The role involves collecting blood, performing waived tests, and ensuring accurate labeling while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture/skin puncture to collect blood.
  • Conduct waived testing with QC and verify results in LIS.
  • Identify patients correctly using multiple identifiers.
  • Label specimens accurately and follow labeling procedures.
  • Review test orders and collection requirements.
  • Process specimens for analysis and enter data into LIS.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in all duties.
  • Keep workstation clean and follow OSHA safety guidelines.

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Central - Waco, TX 76707, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Health Care, REPORTS TO:Director ofLaboratory Services

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Understand and Adhere to WFM Laboratory policies and procedures Manual
  • Perform venipuncture/skin puncture to collect blood
  • Performtesting on patient samples such as urine and stool.
  • Identifypatients correctly using multiple identification factors.
  • Use the appropriatelab generatedlabels and place them correctly on each blood collection tube or container.
  • Review collection requirements for each test ordered.
  • Process each specimen for analysis
  • Perform waived testing with its necessary Quality Control and verify results before approval in the Lab Information System (LIS).
  • Perform scanning duties
  • Comply withall regulationsregardingpatient information confidentiality
  • Conform to OSHA guidelines concerning safety and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Clean workstation daily
OTHER DUTIES
  • Maintainappropriate levelsof laboratory supplies
  • Order supplies throughappropriate vendorsusing paper supply form or online website.
  • Answer phones, and forward messages
  • Teach laboratory procedures to students on clinical rotations
  • Assistdepartment head to orient new employees to WFM-specific lab procedures
  • Assistin covering clinics that are not your primary site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • HighSchool Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • Preferpreviousphlebotomy experience and/or successful completion from an approved phlebotomy training program.
SKILLS
  • Excellentcommunication and computer literacy skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred. Ability to multitask and pay close attention to details.
