Job summary

Ross Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a field technician to perform laboratory chemical inventory, packaging, and preparation for compliant transportation and disposal at customer sites.

You will work under safety regulations (DOT, EPA, OSHA) and travel 30-40% to support field service projects while maintaining documentation, using Microsoft Office, and ensuring accurate waste identification.

Qualifications

  • Perform laboratory chemical inventory, identification, segregation, packaging, and preparation for compliant transportation and disposal.
  • Communicate chemical hazards, handling requirements, and safety instructions to customers, field personnel, and waste-receiving facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standard.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory chemical inventory, identification, segregation, packaging, and preparation for compliant transportation and disposal.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are handled, packaged, manifested, and shipped in accordance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
  • Conduct lab packing and hazardous waste operations at customer sites while following established safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Evaluate chemical properties and compatibility to safely segregate materials for lab packing and disposal.
  • Communicate chemical hazards, handling requirements, and safety instructions to customers, field personnel, and waste-receiving facilities.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, manifests, waste product surveys, inventories, and other records required for tracking and invoicing.
  • Collaborate with customers and technical teams to reconcile project materials and ensure accurate waste identification and documentation.
  • Perform field testing, including fingerprint testing, sampling, and material characterization as needed.
  • Operate field-service equipment including pumps, vacuum equipment, generators, oil spill booms, skid steers, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.
  • Support field technicians with the safe vacuuming, sampling, manifesting, segregation, packaging, and shipment of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standard.
  • Work safely in demanding environments, including outdoor work areas, elevated-noise environments, confined spaces, and areas requiring PPE.
  • Travel approximately 30-40% during the workweek to customer locations to support field service and hazardous waste management projects.
  • Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office, computerized waste-tracking systems, and other business applications.
  • Contribute to operational goals while maintaining a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, environmental responsibility, and customer service.
