Job Description

Position: Phlebotomist - Floater

Location: Wyomissing PA 19610

Schedule: 6:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, every other Saturday 7:00am to 12:00pm

Responsibilities:

1. Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
2. Update patient information and greet customers courteously.
3. Collect specimens following established procedures and explain the process clearly to patients.
4. Reduce patient anxiety by providing a calm environment.
5. Demonstrate proficiency using straight and butterfly needles.
6. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
7. Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy.
8. Package specimens for transport and store samples at appropriate temperatures, following specific protocols.
9. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
10. Attend annual training sessions.
11. Answer calls and communicate laboratory results as needed.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
3. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
4. Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
5. At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
6. Customer service experience in retail or service settings preferred.
7. Keyboard/data entry skills.
