Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Lab Medical Technologist to perform automated and manual lab tests across multiple disciplines including bacteriology, hematology, chemistry, and serology.

The role requires knowledge of age-specific care, ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure timely patient care and compliance with regulations.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or related field and national certification or state exam per Nevada requirements.
• Current State license (or within six months of hire) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Two years experience as a medical technologist in a large clinical lab preferred. Generalist experience including Blood Bank preferred.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the director of laboratory services or designee performs laboratory tests demonstrating understanding of normal ranges due to sex and/or age from neonatal through geriatric population groups. Performs automated, semi‑automated and manual procedures in the fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology according to established procedures and policies. Reports result according to established professional standards, following interpretation, verification and validation of procedures. Works actively and is cooperative with nursing and other hospital staff to ensure timely patient care. Assists with regulatory compliance.

• The Technologist must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and must possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status, and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to the age‑specific need, and to provide the care needed as described in the department policies and procedures.
• The Technologist remains calm in crisis and emergency situations and directs staff members effectively and appropriately.
• The Technologist maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team.

What qualifications you will need:

• Must meet one of the following for Education requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university and successful score on anational examination for certification approved by the State Board
  • Completion of three years ofacademic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculuminvolving biological or physical science and at least 12 months training at a school of medical technology approved by a national accrediting agency and pass a national examination for certification approved by the State Board
  • Bachelor degree in one of the chemical , physical or biological sciences at an accredited college or university, have at least one year of additional full time experience or training in a specialty or subspecialty in which he/she performs tests and pass a national examination for certification approved by the State Board
  • Pass the examination for clinical laboratory technologists given by the State of Nevada Division of Health Bureau of Licensure and Certification
• Licensure requirements:
  • Current State license (or within six months of hire) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, General Supervisor is preferred. Per Diem staff are required to have a Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
• Experience requirements:
  • Two years experience as a medical technologist in a large clinical laboratory preferred. Generalist experience in all areas of the laboratory including Blood Bank is preferred.
