Job summary

Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform tests across bacteriology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology under supervision, reporting results per professional standards.

You will collaborate with nursing staff to ensure timely patient care, assist with regulatory compliance, and apply life-span development knowledge in patient data interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or equivalent with national certification.
  • Current State license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (per diem staff require license).
  • Two years’ experience in a large clinical laboratory preferred; generalist experience in all areas, including Blood Bank, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs lab tests across bacteriology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology per established procedures.
  • Reports results following interpretation, verification, and validation of procedures.
  • Works with nursing and hospital staff to ensure timely patient care and regulatory compliance.

Hourly Wage Estimate: $34.64 - $61.60 / hour

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the director of laboratory services or designee, the Technologist performs laboratory tests demonstrating understanding of normal ranges due to sex and/or age from neonatal through geriatric population groups. Performs automated, semi-automated, and manual procedures in bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology according to established procedures and policies. Reports results according to established professional standards, following interpretation, verification, and validation of procedures. Works actively and cooperatively with nursing and other hospital staff to ensure timely patient care. Assists with regulatory compliance. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of patient status, and interprets appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age‑specific needs. Remains calm in crisis and emergency situations, directs staff members effectively, and maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university and a successful score on a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; or completion of three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours in a curriculum involving biological or physical science and at least 12 months training at an approved school of medical technology and passing a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; or a bachelor degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences at an accredited college or university, at least one year of additional full‑time experience or training in a specialty, and passing a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; or passing the examination for clinical laboratory technologists given by the State of Nevada Division of Health Bureau of Licensure and Certification.
  • Current State license (or within six months of hire) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist; a Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required for per diem staff.
  • Two years’ experience as a medical technologist in a large clinical laboratory preferred; Generalist experience in all laboratory areas, including Blood Bank, preferred.
