Dallas College seeks a dynamic Lab Manager to design, develop, and launch seven new academic Schools. The role oversees laboratory operations across one or more labs, collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure safe, modern environments and alignment with workforce needs.
The Lab Manager reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs or the Vice Provost and may lead multiple laboratories, developing strategic plans, budgets, and processes to support instructional and research activities.

The Lab Managerwill serve within one of the Dallas College academic Schools.Dallas College is establishing the Schools with a new, ambitiousacademic framework to ensure the Schools align with the North Texasregion’s workforce and industry needs to ensure graduates’ successin their careers.
The Lab Manager will report to the Dean of Academic Affairs orthe Vice Provost. The Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing theoperation of one or more laboratories through collaboration withfaculty and staff.
Understanding of laboratory operations, laboratory informationsystems (software and hardware), and laboratory equipment in one ormore discipline areas within the School.
Able to instruct credit classes in one or more discipline areaswithin the School for which they are credentialed to teach.
Strong collaborator who can work with a cross-functional team toaccomplish goals.
Ability to think strategically and innovatively creatingrealistic plans and workflows.
Must be able to manage multiple projects and possess stronganalytical skills and organizational skills.
Demonstrates high a high degree of proficiency in performing jobassignments within allotted times.
Able to identify problems, involve others in seeking solutions,conducts appropriate analyses, searches for best solutions andresponds quickly to new challenges.
Advanced ability to use computer technology to access data,maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.
Must be able to comply with Dallas College policies/proceduresas well as applicable local, state, and federal rules andregulations.
Key Responsibilities
Manages several laboratory areas including supervision ofLaboratory Specialists or other staff.
Ensure compliance to laboratory safety rules and regulations,including health and safety policies, and college, state andfederal policies.
Assists with the testing and evaluation of new technologies.
Recommends the purchase of equipment and information systems(software and hardware).
Develops methods to organize workflow to ensure quality,precision and timeliness of outputs.
Develops comprehensive inventory system for efficient trackingof equipment, tools and supplies for one or more laboratories.
Responsible for reports, proposals and recommendations relatedto lab functions.
Recognizes opportunities to apply quality improvement principlesin daily activities.
Researches, evaluates and recommends new lab equipment, systems,and materials.
Develop strategic plan for laboratory services to supportexisting and new programs.
Prepares budget requests and manages approved budget.
Manages the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary tocarry out the functions of laboratory support.
Collects and maintains data needed to evaluate service usage andcustomer satisfaction.
Prepares periodic reports, as necessary or requested, to trackstrategic goal accomplishment.
Build, maintain and encourage productive working relationshipswith faculty and ensure that laboratory support is coordinated tomeet instructional and other needs.
Keeps up to date on the professional and technical aspects onthe job.
Utilizes excellent interpersonal, listening, oral and writtencommunication skills in order to communicate effectively withinternal and external stakeholders and constituents in the DallasCollege community network.
Provide excellent customer service.
Completes required Dallas College Professional Developmenttraining hours per academic year.
Perform other job duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsLab Managers must be eligible to teach in one or more of theprograms in which they serve.
Non-transferrable Programs: Bachelor’s degree in related fieldplus three (3) years of related work experience including one (1)year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience, or Associates degree inrelated field plus three (3) years of related work experienceincluding one (1) year of demonstrated teachingexperience and one(1) year of supervisory or team leadexperience.
Applicable degree above is dependent upon teaching disciplineand will be designated at time of job posting.
Transferrable Programs:
Master’s degree in related field or Master’s degree with 18hours in teaching discipline; three (3) years of related workexperience including one (1) year of demonstrated teachingexperience and one (1) year of supervisory or team leadexperience.
