Job summary

AmSpec Group is seeking a Maintenance Person to upkeep the laboratory building, work areas, and facility systems in safe, proper condition. This role performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and general repairs while coordinating with laboratory staff and outside service providers to support daily operations.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and equipment repairs, and can follow instructions, work independently, and communicate

Qualifications

• Ability to speak and understand English; communicate with supervisors and service providers.
• Experience in general maintenance or building repairs.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and general repair techniques.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to follow instructions, identify problems, and work independently.
• Reliability with attendance, time management and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of the building, storage areas, and property to identify maintenance needs.
• Complete general repairs including minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and door/fixture repairs.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
• Monitor lighting, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration; report issues needing specialized service.
• Respond to maintenance requests and coordinate with supervisors to minimize testing interruptions.
• Assist approved contractors with access for specialized repairs.
• Assist with moving and setting up furniture and equipment as directed.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and outstanding issues.
• Keep tools and maintenance areas organized; ensure access remains clear to safety equipment.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and wear PPE; report leaks or unsafe conditions promptly.
