Job summary

Nutex Health is seeking a Lab / ER Tech to support nursing staff in the emergency department and provide concierge-based patient access. This role involves direct and indirect patient care with minimal supervision, and contributes to a high-quality patient experience.

The technician will perform phlebotomy, basic testing, equipment and supply management, and clerical duties, collaborating with nurses and physicians to ensure efficient department operations and compliant laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

• Treat all patients, visitors, and team members with respect; demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and communication.
• Communicate effectively with nurses and physicians in the emergency department regarding noted changes in the patient’s status.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current technologies, instrumentation and products, and new testing methods.
• Perform basic phlebotomy; operate lab instruments safely; perform quality control and calibrations per policy.
• Perform moderate and waived testing per Clinical Laboratory policies and procedures.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal Clinical Laboratory rules and regulations.
• Ability to interpret results of moderate and waived testing and take necessary action on results.
• Maintain appropriate procedures for sending out laboratory specimens.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and provide feedback for needed supplies as applicable.
• Ensure all essential equipment is functioning properly and supply stock is adequate.
• Conduct patient registration and transactions per company protocols to ensure efficient access.
• Perform clerical duties such as faxing, copying, scanning; Answering, screening, and directing incoming phone calls.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Facility Administration.

Lab / ER Tech

The ER Technician is responsible for maintaining a concierge based customer service experience while performing all essential responsibilities of nursing support, to include providing patient care that is both direct and indirect in the emergency department setting and business office/patient access (as needed) with minimal supervision

• Treat all patients, visitors, and team members with respect. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and communication methods. Perform care in an environment free of judgement and recognize discrepancies between patient and personal beliefs.
• Communicate effectively with nurses and physicians in the emergency department regarding noted changes in the patient’s status.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current technologies, instrumentation and products, and new testing methods.
• Perform basic phlebotomy skills while maintaining and using all Clinical Laboratory instruments safely and correctly, perform quality control and maintain records, perform calibrations in compliance with requirements set forth by the manufacturer, and ensures proficiency testing is completed in accordance to policy.
• Perform moderate and waived testing per Clinical Laboratory policies and procedures.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal Clinical Laboratory rules and regulations.
• Ability to interpret results of moderate and waived testing and take necessary action on results.
