Qualifications

• Equivalent to one year of journey-level or skilled experience in maintenance and operation.
• Equivalent to two years of semi-skilled experience may be substituted.
• Two years of trade school or technical training may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and perform skilled repair and maintenance of equipment to component level.
• Research, acquire, and install replacement components with cost-effective alternatives.
• Design and construct equipment and parts using CAD for faculty, staff, and students.
• Research emerging technologies and fabricate prototypes and final products.
• Perform calibration and quality control tests for reliability and safety.
• Train and supervise faculty, staff, and students to safely use equipment.
• Suggest shop operation improvements and safety/process upgrades.
• Establish preventive maintenance schedules and required technical skills.
• Collaborate with Facility Services and off-campus vendors on projects.
• Troubleshoot and repair problems with Shop equipment and instruments.
• Prepare installation sites for student or faculty projects.
• Ensure safety policies in the shop, lab, and facilities are followed.
