Job summary

Bucknell University is seeking a Lab Director to oversee multiple laboratory rooms, manage equipment, safety, training, and compliance with regulations. The role collaborates with faculty and facilities, ensuring smooth lab operations and timely support for research and coursework.

Reporting to the Biomedical Engineering Department Chair, this in-person position requires 40 hours weekly and a commitment to safety and high-quality instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
• Two years of laboratory experience in a scientific or engineering setting.
• Willingness to develop skills across biomedical engineering areas.

Responsibilities

• Manage, organize, and improve laboratory environment resources including facilities, equipment, software, instrumentation, and supplies.
• Perform maintenance and calibration of instruments and equipment; troubleshoot problems as they arise.
• Ensure equipment/instruments are available, functional, and properly placed for use by students and faculty; oversee safety protocols.
• Order, organize, and stock supplies including PPE to support classes, student projects, and research.
• Develop and maintain training procedures for laboratory equipment and departmental resources.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in handling and disposal of materials; update risk assessments and management plans.
• Provide collaborative, timely support to faculty for laboratory instruction and assist with student research projects.
