Job summary

Olympia Fields Hospital is seeking a Lab Director to oversee the clinical laboratory and related departments, ensuring policy adherence, compliance, and system integration across structure, IT, supply chain, and QA. The role leads corporate communication with Laboratory Operations Leadership and drives KPI achievement in finance, quality, and service.

The position requires a science-based degree, state license or ASCP, and at least five years of supervisory lab experience with strong QA and LEAN

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field to meet CLIA requirements.
  • Valid CLS/MLS license or ASCP preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory clinical laboratory experience.
  • General Accounting and statistics and financial operating experience.
  • LEAN Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall clinical laboratory and multiple departments per hospital policies and standards.
  • Provide operational guidance to local site management and ensure system integration.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, TJC, ACHC and other agencies.
  • Lead special projects and meet KPIs in finance, quality, and service.
  • Perform routine laboratory testing to support the department as needed.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field
Valid CLS/MLS license or ASCP preferred
Minimum 5 years supervisory clinical laboratory experience
LEAN Six Sigma certification preferred
Master’s Degree preferred

Provides operational guidance to local site management. Ensures system integration of department structure, policy, procedure, information technology, supply chain, Human Resource, and quality assurance. Secure compliance of laboratory service with local, state, federal (CLIA), and other regulatory agency (CAP, TJC, ACHC) standard. Takes on special projects or other assignments and completes them within timeframe. Meet and consults with Corporate Laboratory Operations Leadership for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and LIS. Promotes standardization throughout the system. Ensure laboratories will meet or exceed established corporate/site KPIs in finance, quality, and service. Perform routine laboratory testing to support the department as needed.

Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field to meet requirements of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) required.
  • Possession of a valid license or certificate of Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist, ASCP or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory clinical laboratory experience required.
  • General Accounting and statistics and financial operating experience
  • Quality Control and quality tools management courses desired.
  • LEAN Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $85,280 to $123,510 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
