Role Title: Senior Engineer End User & Lab Computing Support

Location: Collegeville, PA

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Engineer with deep experience in Lab IT infrastructure support to join our technology team supporting R&D lab operations across a global footprint of 5000+ PCs. This role requires strong hands-on knowledge of hardware, networking, validated systems (GxP), lab instrumentation workflows, and end-user computing, with a proactive and consultative mindset to support scientists and laboratory operations.

The position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about bridging science and IT, and those who thrive in dynamic, cross-functional, and regulated lab environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support the global computer infrastructure (5,000+ PCs)
  • Onboard, configure, and decommission lab computers into the domain and onto secure networks
  • Provide Break/Fix support (80% of workload), incident management, and day-to-day user assistance
  • Configure and secure lab PCs and scientific equipment for GxP and non-GxP environments
  • Implement and validate data backup solutions for analytical equipment
  • Troubleshoot device connectivity, laboratory software, and data flow issues
  • Support data acquisition from lab instruments and align them with digital workflows
  • Utilize Active Directory, ServiceNow, Microsoft Excel, and AGILE methodologies in daily operations
  • Assist in hardware standardization to support digital transformation in laboratories
  • Contribute to project initiatives for the digital lab of the future

Essential Technical & Functional Skills:

  • End-User Computing / Desktop Support expertise
  • Deep knowledge of Windows OS, iOS, and Linux
  • Advanced troubleshooting for complex computer/laboratory hardware/software issues
  • Strong understanding of networking (VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting, firewalls, OSI model)
  • Experience with Active Directory, ticketing tools (ServiceNow), validated systems (GxP)
  • Familiarity with scientific instrument data workflows and backup implementation
  • Hands-on with testing, validation, and documentation of lab software
  • Prior experience with IT/OT network segregation and cybersecurity practices

Managerial & Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven
  • Team-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
  • Adheres to structured ITIL/Process-based workflows
  • Ability to lead small teams or coordinate project-based support

Preferred Experience Lab Enablers Profile:

Candidates with the following additional experience will be prioritized:

  • Uplift labs to modern hardware standards compatible with digital ecosystems
  • Ability to connect IT strategy with lab operations and scientific requirements
  • Strong product ownership and project management skills
  • Understand the full lifecycle of lab data: instrument software backup analytics
  • Experience in driving automation and innovative solutions in R&D environments
