lean Harbors is seeking a Lab Chemist. In this position you are responsible for the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.

Shift: Must be able to work a rotating shift to include days, nights and weekends.

  • Analysis of various metals to include but not limited to mercury
  • Wet chemistry testing including Chlorine and Fluoride analysis
  • Performs analysis of facility samples using GC, IC, ICP, and various analytical laboratory instruments
  • Sample digestion
  • Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed
  • Properly manage waste generated as a result of analytical procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment that complies with all applicable OSHA regulations
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Must be able to work a rotating shift to include days, nights and weekends.
  • Bachelor of Science required (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related science preferred)
  • 3 + years of prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred
  • 1+ year experience with ICP instrumentation for metals preferred
  • Wet chemistry, flashpoint, Calorimetry experience preferred
  • TOC (Total Organic Carbon) preferred
  • Wastewater experience a plus!
  • Knowledge operating GC, IC is nice to have!
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Computer savvy
  • Must have a positive safety record
  • Ability to document, record, and analyze data and information
  • Lift up to 50lbs, climbing stairs, bend, stoop and stand for long hours.
