Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Laboratory Automation Systems Intern to join the Spring House campus in Spring House, PA. The internship runs May through August 2027, full-time (40 hours/week).

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Laboratory Automation, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Digital Systems, or related fields.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher across college coursework.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize, validate, reconcile, and document technical information accurately.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with scientific, engineering, automation, operations, and IT/Digital stakeholders.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar laboratory equipment, software, terminology, and workflows.
• Ability to manage priorities and timelines.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Inventory and characterize laboratory automation systems and components.
• Reconcile field observations with records and resolve inconsistencies with system owners.
• Learn automation platform purpose, interfaces, and workflows.
• Collect and organize equipment manuals, configuration records, and setup instructions.
• Apply consistent naming conventions and metadata for organization.
• Identify potential LLM use cases for knowledge management and classification.
• Document AI use-case objectives, inputs, outputs, risks, and success criteria.
• Evaluate feasibility of proposed AI use cases with approved tools.
• Support assessments, data cleanup, reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
• Develop standardized automation system profiles and searchable repositories.
• Prepare project documentation and final stakeholder presentation.
• Follow laboratory safety, EH&S, cybersecurity, data governance practices.
