Job summary

Wake Technical Community College East Campus hosts the Siemens On-Board Camp program. The Part-Time Industrial Training Lab Assistant supports electrical, mechanical, and assembly labs, prepares and maintains equipment, and ensures readiness for instructional sessions.

The role requires meticulous organization, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to manage inventories and coordinate with instructors to sustain smooth training operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience assisting in a hands-on training lab or workshop is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructor requirements and safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory spaces prior to scheduled training sessions
  • Set up electrical, mechanical, and assembly training equipment according to instructor requirements
  • Ensure all tools, components, consumables, and instructional materials and drawings are available, organized, and ready for use before each training session
  • Break down laboratory stations and training areas following class sessions
  • Clean, organize, and properly store tools, equipment, and materials
  • Ensure compliance with established laboratory safety procedures
  • Conduct routine inventories of supplies and tools and notify instructors of shortages, damaged equipment, or other issues requiring attention
  • Return training areas to established standards in preparation for future classes
  • Monitor the condition of laboratory tools, instruments, and equipment and report maintenance or repair needs
  • Maintain accurate inventory and equipment records
  • Maintain safe housekeeping practices throughout all laboratory and storage areas
  • Immediately report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to program leadership
  • Provide general operational support for the Siemens On-Board Camp (OBC) program
  • Assist with classroom logistics and training events as assigned

Job description

The Part-Time Industrial Training Lab Assistant provides hands-on support for the Siemens On-Board Camp (OBC) program at Wake Tech East Campus, including electrical, mechanical, and assembly lab activities. This position is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and breaking down laboratory equipment, materials, tools, and training workstations. The technician serves as a key resource in supporting daily training operations and ensuring that electrical and mechanical labs are fully prepared for instructional activities.
