Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Raritan, NJ. The role combines Specimen Processor and Driver/Courier responsibilities in a fast-paced laboratory setting with a Monday–Friday schedule, rotating Saturdays, from 8pm to 4:30am.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license. Pay range is $17.75–$20/hr plus shift differential. Benefits are offered and Labcorp is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Responsibilities

• Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities.
• Receive and stack bins of clinical lab specimens weighing up to 50lbs.
• Scan specimen bins into system and reconcile against manifest to ensure accuracy.
• Deliver trollies weighing upwards of 400lbs to different departments throughout the lab.
• Collect empty plastic bins throughout the building and return to the point of entry.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
• Load and unload specimens as per requirement, in and out from the vehicle.
• Complete pickup and delivery in a timely manner.
• Handle all specimens and lab samples in safe and efficient manner.
• Safely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic laws.
• Utilize handheld electronic device to manage daily picks up.
• Work directly with the supervisor/manager for any and all pick-ups as needed.
• Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes and weather conditions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of driver/courier experience
• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience

Additional Job Standards

• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
• At least 21 years' old
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blind test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Pay Range: $17.75-$20/hr. + Shift Differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
