Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Lab Assistant for a StaffFlex contract in Denver, CO. The position runs 13 weeks, full-time, with day shift Monday to Friday. Training hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; after training, hours shift to ~10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, processing, reporting of results, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Prior lab experience is preferred and CPT certifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Licenses and certifications listed below preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab, or other specimen collection with proper ID.
• Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to testing areas.
• Generates and reports waived and moderate complexity results under supervision.
• Operates and troubleshoots testing-related processes and equipment.
• Monitors test system performance and takes corrective action as needed.
• Communicates critical results to colleagues and providers.
• Oversees day-to-day activities of department associates on shifts.

Job Description:

Lab Assistant, StaffFlex contract $52.92/hr 13weeks Mon - Fri Full time; For training: 8am - 4:30; after training ~10am - 6:30pm No on-call Pathology experience [Preferred]

• Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab, or other specimen collection, ensuring appropriate specimen identification and type.
• Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
• Generates and reports waived and moderate complexity test results under supervision.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots testing-related processes, equipment, and instrumentation, documenting activities as required.
• Monitors test system performance and takes corrective action as necessary.
• Provides advanced troubleshooting skills and utilizes critical thinking to analyze, correlate, and interpret data.
• Supports department compliance with laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Compiles and reviews laboratory information system reports to ensure timely collection, processing, and testing of samples.
• Handles inquiries and resolves complaints related to laboratory services and information promptly and effectively.
• Communicates critical and significant results and findings to coworkers, providers, and other departments to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.
• Oversees day-to-day activities of department associates on assigned shifts and provides input on associate performance and recognition.
• Coordinates training and competency assessments for new associates and students under the guidance of laboratory leadership.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
