Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver is seeking a Lab Assistant (StaffFlex) to support specimen collection, processing, and initial testing. You will work with various analyzers, ensure proper labeling, and help maintain accurate laboratory records in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires high school diploma and preferred previous lab experience; training is provided. Schedule is full-time, day shift, on site at 2525 S Downing St, Denver, CO 80210, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Lab setting experience preferred.
• Healthcare environment exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab, or other specimen collection, ensuring appropriate specimen identification and type.
• Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
• Generates and reports waived and moderate complexity test results under supervision.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots testing-related processes, equipment, and instrumentation, documenting activities as required.
• Monitors test system performance and takes corrective action as necessary. Provides advanced troubleshooting skills and utilizes critical thinking to analyze, correlate, and interpret data.
• Supports department compliance with laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Compiles and reviews laboratory information system reports to ensure timely collection, processing, and testing of samples.
• Handles inquiries and resolves complaints related to laboratory services and information promptly and effectively.
• Communicates critical and significant results and findings to coworkers, providers, and other departments to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.
• Oversees day-to-day activities of department associates on assigned shifts and provides input on associate performance and recognition.
• Coordinates training and competency assessments for new associates and students under the guidance of laboratory leadership.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pathology experience [Preferred]
