Position Overview

Under limited supervision, performs laboratory support procedures including specimen collection, phlebotomy, order entry, processing, point of care testing, and transport of laboratory specimens. Blood sample collection constitutes at least 25% of scheduled hours. Interacts courteously and professionally with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patient specimens for testing, focusing on preanalytic and post-analytic steps.
  • Enter patient demographic and test order information accurately into lab systems, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform blood collection or phlebotomy, demonstrating competency, productivity, and compassion.
  • Follow HFHS Standards of Excellence to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies in laboratory request forms, handle specimens carefully to protect sample integrity.
