Job summary

Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc. in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the 2nd shift. The role involves processing and routing specimens, data entry in the Laboratory Information System, and supporting patient care with accuracy and safety.

Hours are 7:00 PM–1:00 AM, Monday–Friday with rotating Saturdays. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits, PTO, holidays, retirement savings, and opportunities for career growth within the company.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing preferred.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment (cells, centrifuges, alarms).

Responsibilities

• Ensure specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored.
• Enter patient, client, billing, and test information into the Laboratory Information System.
• Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement solutions.
• Work in a lab with PPE requirements and biological hazards.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

In This Role, You Will

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process by making sure laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored
• Responsible for entering patient, client, billing and test information into the Laboratory Information System
• Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions
• Work in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All You Need Is

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
