Job summary

Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Clinical Laboratory in Willits, CA. This in-office, 26-week contract role requires CPT I license in CA, a high school education, and phlebotomy experience in acute care.

Rotating weekends with varied shifts, you will collect blood specimens and manage specimen processing. The position emphasizes accuracy, organization, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and privacy

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Experience in Phlebotomy in acute care environment: Preferred
• Licensed Phlebotomy Technician: CPT I license required in CA; CPT/CPT II preferred in other states
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens for a variety of tests using age-appropriate techniques
• Receive, sort, and accession specimens for pre-analytic and analytic workflow
• Complete computerized tasks for patient registration and test order entry
• Perform post-analytic tasks including reporting, and storage of specimens
• Maintain clean, stocked, and safe work area; monitor pending work and escalate priorities
• Operate basic pre-analytic lab equipment and ensure privacy and safety compliance
• Communicate results verbally and route/retransmit results as needed
• Receive calls for the laboratory and assist or transfer to appropriate section
• Ensure proper documentation of pre-analytic and post-analytic work
• Coordinate specimen recollections and manage specimen transport and packaging
