Job summary

Mayo Career Site UK in Rochester, MN is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen receipt, handling and storage, and to perform clerical tasks in a busy laboratory. This is a 4-month full-time temporary role designed to train on the job to gain phlebotomy skills needed for the Inpatient Phlebotomist - Vascular Access Technician track.

Job description

The laboratory assistant is responsible for biological (e.g. blood, urine) specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. The laboratory assistant is also responsible for performing a variety of clerical, pre-analytic processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. The laboratory assistant works with various computer information systems on a daily basis.

This is a 4-month full time temporary position to train on the job to gain the phlebotomy skills needed to apply for the Inpatient Phlebotomist - Vascular Access Technician position.
