Join our team as a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist at St. Rita's Medical Center Outreach, part of Mercy Health.

Position Type: Part Time - Outreach

Summary

The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy, specimen collection, and utilizes Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) for various functions including patient registration, order entry, and report generation. Responsibilities include processing specimens, specimen registration, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Essential Functions

• Performs specimen collection procedures
• Processes and dispatches specimens and body fluids
• Enters orders and performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting
• Generates reports and registers patients
• Provides basic customer service and maintains inventory
• In Microbiology, sets up cultures and performs gram stains; may perform phlebotomy duties

Qualifications

• High School/GED required
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred
• Basic phlebotomy training preferred
