Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist - Kirkland Clinic

Job Overview

This role involves collecting samples for testing, including phlebotomy procedures, venous and capillary punctures, and urine collections, in accordance with scope of practice and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform phlebotomy and sample collection procedures.
  2. Maintain patient demographic and test order information in computer systems, ensuring compliance.
  3. Process and prepare samples for testing, including packaging and documentation.
  4. Guide new staff or students on department procedures and policies.
Work Requirements
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, specimen verification, and laboratory information systems.
  • Potential out-of-office travel for certain assignments.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a vocational phlebotomy course with internship or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Two years of recent clinical laboratory or phlebotomy experience.
  • One year of insurance collection/data entry experience.
  • Current Washington State Medical Assistant certification or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification within 60 days of hire.
  • National registration with ASCP in Phlebotomy preferred.
