Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist- Allouez

Job Summary

The Lab Assistant supports laboratory operations by performing phlebotomy, maintaining lab equipment, processing specimens, performing tests and quality control, and ensuring lab safety protocols are followed. Reports to the lab leader.

Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients of all ages, label specimens, and assist in patient care during collection.
  • Check-in patients, verify information, and process test orders using Epic and Laboratory Information System.
  • Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures and process urine specimens for drug screening.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, inventory supplies, and stock supplies as needed.
  • Answer calls, maintain logs and files, and enter data into the laboratory information system.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Skills: Proficiency in computer systems, excellent communication, ability to establish effective relationships, accuracy under pressure, following instructions, problem-solving, knowledge of specimen collection, and regulatory compliance.

Licenses & Certifications: CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification required.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Stand constantly, walk frequently, bend and reach as specified, lift up to 50 lbs rarely, and perform fine manipulations constantly.
  • Work in conditions with occasional noise and hazards; rarely exposed to extreme cold, heat, or wet environments.
