Job summary

St. Luke’s Hospital seeks a skilled phlebotomist to collect blood samples, process specimens, and assist with patient registration in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include using the Laboratory Information System, preparing specimens for reference labs, maintaining inventory, and supporting lab operations while adhering to safety and accuracy protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous inpatient phlebotomy experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and processes patient specimens.
• Registers patients and uses the laboratory information system (LIS).
• Prepares specimens to be sent to reference laboratories.
• Maintains department inventory and operates equipment.
• Performs various clerical duties in the lab.
• Adheres to patient identification, laboratory safety, and department policies.
• Promotes teamwork with all members of the healthcare team.

Position Summary:

Performs phlebotomy, processes patient specimens and performs patient registration. Utilizes Laboratory computer system. Prepares specimens to be sent to reference laboratories. Maintains department inventory and operates and maintains equipment. Performs various clerical duties. Adheres to patient identification, laboratory safety, and department policies and procedures. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Previous inpatient phlebotomy experience required.
