Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking a Lab Assistant to perform venipuncture and skin puncture with competency and efficiency. Responsibilities include sample collection, labeling, and preparing specimens for testing in a 170-bed acute care environment with a focus on patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures and files paperwork.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to perform venipuncture and skin puncture competently and expediently. Has working knowledge of test requirements, assists in clinical laboratory.
