Under direct supervision of the Office Manager, the Lab Assistant is responsible for the collecting, processing and testing of specimens from patients, documenting results according to established procedures. Performs specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures as indicated. Follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Assists with patient flow as needed. Properly identifies patient, draws blood samples, and sends to laboratory for analysis. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record‑keeping duties. Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines. Responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, completing patient assessments, and assisting in medical procedures as required.
High School diploma or GED BLS required upon hire or must be obtained within 30 days of employment (FCS will provide BLS course within the first 30 days).
A minimum of six months of active experience in a Medical Assistant role within the practice.
