Job summary

CHI St. Gabriel’s Health in Little Falls, MN is seeking a Lab Assistant to support diagnostic testing by collecting, preparing, and processing patient specimens for a variety of tests. You will follow proper blood collection procedures and ensure sample quality across all ages.

Required are a High School Diploma or GED and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days. Preferred are Lab Assistant or phlebotomy certifications and acute care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 90 Days of start date is required.

• Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions
• Practices kindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions
• Establishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departments
• Compliance with isolation and hand sanitization procedures
• Follows blood collection procedures, performs venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations, including blood bank collections
• Utilizes appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adheres to appropriate volume requirements

As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries.

Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests.

Job Requirements

• Certificate from Lab Assistant Program within six (6) months of hire or six (6) months experience in an acute care facility
• Certificate Other Phlebotomy program
