Job summary

Holyoke Medical Center Laboratory is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to support diagnostic medicine. You will register and receive specimens, enter data, prepare samples, and perform molecular testing for COVID-19, Flu and Strep. A strong focus on accuracy and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities include customer service, answering phones, and transferring specimens to appropriate departments while upholding laboratory regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Healthcare or medical laboratory experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology or Health Science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist laboratory staff, clinical staff and patients in the clinical laboratory.
• Register and receive specimens.
• Enter specimen data into a software system.
• Prepare samples for further laboratory analysis.
• Perform COVID-19 / Flu / Strep molecular testing.
• Transport specimens to other labs and departments.

Holyoke Medical Center Laboratory has an exciting entry level position available for applicantsinterested in diagnostic medicine.The applicant must share a passion for our lab mission statement,which is working collaboratively to ensure quality results for every patient, every time. The jobresponsibilities are toassist laboratory staff, clinical staff and patients in diverse roles within theclinical laboratory. The Laboratory Assistant will register and receive specimens, enter specimendata into a software system, prepare samples for further laboratory analysis, performCOVID-19 /Flu/Strep molecular testing, transport specimens to other labs and clinical departments.Responsibilities include: customer service, training, answering phones, entering precise andaccurate data, adherence to laboratory regulations and performance of testing according to standardoperating success.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma and previous work experience required.Bachelor’s degree in Biology,Microbiology or Health Science preferred. Previousexperience in a healthcare setting or medical laboratory experience is strongly preferred.
