Job summary

The Arizona Republic is seeking a digital-first bilingual reporter for La Voz, its Spanish-language desk. This role focuses on Spanish-language community coverage in Phoenix and Arizona, delivering breaking news, features and enterprise in both Spanish and English.

Ideal candidates will leverage AP style, social channels and reader interactions to inform coverage, while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, newsroom environment. A journalism degree and Spanish newsroom experience are preferred.

La Voz is the Spanish- la nguage sister publication and bilingual desk of The Arizona Republic/azcentral.com, bringing local news coverage of Phoenix and Arizona to La tinos and Spanish speakers.

Essential job duties include:

This reporter will closely monitor and build connections in the Spanish-speaking community of metro Phoenix to craft service journalism and answer reader questions. This reporter will produce a combination of breaking news, daily enterprise, feature and multi-sourced stories in Spanish and English in a fast-paced, competitive, 24/7 news cycle.

Typical job duties:

Report community-centered stories ranging from quick-turn breaking news to deeper features. Use search insights to connect with readers on trending topics. Break essential Spanish- la nguage news. Demonstrate strong news judgment informed by real-world experience in Spanish news media. Bring fresh ideas about how to best deliver audience-centered coverage of Spanish speaking communities. Provide cogent analysis of trends and issues. Report quickly, clearly and accurately. Engage with readers through various platforms, including social, video and newsletters.

Knowledge and skills:

Spanish fluency required. Strong command of AP grammar and style. Required work experience, training and education:
