Description
Position Summary

As the L1MA, reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, you will provide support, direct care, and administer prescribed medications to the residents in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Participate in shift change meetings to communicate with oncoming associates regarding resident status or special needs.
  2. Administer prescribed medications to patients and maintain related medical records under immediate supervision of the nurse on duty.
  3. Verify identity of patient receiving medication and record details on specific forms or records.
  4. Take vital signs or observe patients to detect responses to medications, and report or notify personnel of unexpected reactions.
  5. Present medication to patients and observe ingestion or other application, or administer medication using specified procedures.
  6. Document reasons for not administering prescribed drugs.
  7. Provide direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
  8. Report changes in resident medical conditions and behaviors to physicians, families, and community leadership, ensuring incident reports are completed.
  9. Coordinate with physicians and pharmacy to ensure medications are ordered correctly and prepared for administration.
  10. Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare providers, and community staff.
  11. Ensure medication is stored securely and maintain inventory records.
  12. Follow the Rights of Medication Administration at all times.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
Education

High school diploma or GED.

Skills/Experience
  • Current state Level 1 Medication Aide certification.
  • 2-4 years' experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Insulin certification preferred.
  • Experience in senior care communities with leadership skills preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directives clearly.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress, be flexible, and multitask effectively.
  • Respect for resident rights and confidentiality principles.
Travel

Travel is not required.

Physical Demands

Prepared to work with residents exhibiting disruptive behaviors, including physical contact. Routine activities include sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, hearing, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision should accommodate near and far distances.
