Qualifications

  • Completion of the Department of Labor & Industries Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 2 Apprenticeship program.
  • One year of experience as a WCA 3 or three years of adjudication experience.

L&I Workers' Compensation Adjudicator 4/Coach Mentor State Funded

Join the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries as a Workers' Compensation Adjudicator 4, Coach Mentor. This position is part of a state-funded initiative aimed at coaching and mentoring newly hired adjudicators.

Pay Range

This role offers a salary between $61,404.00 and $82,512.00 per year, based on experience and skills. Discuss details with your recruiter.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the accuracy and appropriateness of actions taken by WCA 1, 2, and 3 staff.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to trainees and apprentices.
  • Conduct on-the-job training on best practices, caseload management, and communication techniques.
  • Support formal classroom training with real-world application.
  • Collaborate with training teams to ensure consistency and teamwork.
  • Develop strategies for quality assurance and process improvements.
  • Maintain apprenticeship documentation and critical lists.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the Department of Labor & Industries Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 2 Apprenticeship program, and one year of experience as a WCA 3, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant adjudication experience, OR
  • Equivalent education and experience.
Desired Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Mentoring and facilitating group discussions.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and familiarity with SharePoint and Work Check Technology is a plus.
  • Bilingual abilities are encouraged.
