Job Highlights

L&I’s Insurance Services’ Claims Initiation unit is seeking an Office Assistant Lead (OAL) looking for a challenge, and who is eager to grow and develop their skills. The primary purpose of this team is to provide timely services to customers to ensure employers are supported and workers protected.

In this position you will lead, coach, and mentor the Claim Initiation team while also initiating time loss, medical only and employer closure claims, answering incoming telephone calls, entering high volumes of data into the department mainframe system, and provides support to new staff and their peers.

Duties

Some Of What You’ll Do

  • Trains and mentors new and existing members of the initiation team.
  • Reviews claim documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains the daily tracking system.
  • Provides quality assurance and work checking for office assistants.
  • Provides phone support using the phone queue system.
  • Compiles weekly and monthly production and phone queue reports.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of clerical and/or data entry experience, including experience directing the work of others. And/or equivalent education.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm including reduction for errors (verified through certified word per minute typing certificate).

The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington. For positions where in-office work is necessary, the frequency of telework is dependent upon business needs and will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.
