Overview
Optomi, in partnership with a leading telecommunications company, is seeking a Kubernetes / 4G Policy Core Engineer to support the implementation and migration of a new Cisco-provided Kubernetes platform, internally referred to as CNDP and known by Cisco as Ultra Cloud Core Subscriber Microservices Infrastructure. The platform will run Kubernetes on Cisco infrastructure and support a critical telecom policy/core environment.
The primary focus is hands-on Kubernetes platform engineering, including implementation, migration, troubleshooting, testing, and platform validation. The ideal candidate can independently manage a Kubernetes environment, troubleshoot complex platform issues, and drive work forward with limited day-to-day direction. Cisco infrastructure experience is highly desirable, while 4G Policy Core, PCRF, and Diameter experience is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Implement and migrate a Cisco-provided Kubernetes platform running on Cisco infrastructure.
- Manage, troubleshoot, and support Kubernetes platform environments throughout implementation.
- Integrate the new platform with existing infrastructure and support new platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot Kubernetes, container, platform, and infrastructure issues.
- Execute traffic, performance, load, resiliency, and security testing to validate platform functionality.
- Develop and execute test cases to ensure new capabilities perform successfully without impacting existing traffic or services.
- Support automated testing and CI/CD activities using Azure DevOps, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Investigate and address CVEs, vulnerabilities, and security compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Cisco and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues and accelerate implementation timelines.
- Document implementation activities, troubleshooting findings, test results, and platform validation.
- Support lab implementation and production-readiness activities as the platform progresses toward deployment.
- Independently prioritize work, identify issues, and drive technical tasks to completion with weekly direction.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience implementing, migrating, and managing Kubernetes platforms.
- Strong container and platform troubleshooting experience.
- Experience independently managing Kubernetes environments in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and platform automation.Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitHub Actions.
- Strong performance, troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a distributed, remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cisco UCS, Fabric Interconnects, M6 blades, or Cisco Fabric
- Experience running Kubernetes on Cisco infrastructure
- 4G Policy Core, PCRF, Diameter, GX, RX, Sy, or Gy experience
- Experience with performance/load testing and resiliency testing
- Experience with automation and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with vulnerability management or tools such as Wiz
